Well, here’s something to drool on…

We know for the fact that the Louis Vuitton Capucines totes have become exceptionally popular since its first release in the Fall Winter 2013 collection. But that’s not surprising at all, who can resist a fashion piece that’s linked to the history of a giant luxury brand like Louis Vuitton? Rue Des ‘Capucines’ is the name of the street where this brand has established its first store in 1854. That’s a long time ago and for this reason Louis Vuitton have poured everything into it, to make it as classic as possible.

Rendered in rare and precious Crocodile skin, Capucines combines refined details, including semi-rigid handle for hand, elbow or shoulder carry secured by jewel-like shiny golden brass rings, with a spacious and functional shape. Its distinctive flap can be worn in two ways: outside to reveal the outline of a quatrefoil clover Monogram flower or inside to show the LV initials. Inside the bag is lined in supple goatskin leather and features two large interior compartments, a zippered pocket and a flat pocket.

Selected from the finest crocodile leather and embellished to make it timeless and most luxurious. So rare that only a small selected Louis Vuitton boutique stores them and refined with a shiny gold brass rings that’s connected to the semi-rigid handle. One thing I am certain; fragrantly expensive, but worth every penny.

The best from both worlds; effortless and flexible, roll the flap inwards to flaunt the LV initials or move the flap outwards to show the monogram flower. One bag with two designs or two faces. The interior is enriched with goatskin and you will find two interior compartments and a zippered pocket in the interior.

Got love for this bag? We can give you more information; available in two sizes:

Louis Vuitton Capucines in Crocodile Bag in MM: 14.2″ x 9.1″ x 5.5″
Louis Vuitton Capucines in Crocodile Bag in GM: 15.7″ x 10.6″ x 6.3″

The price is around $50,000 USD/ €36.000 EUR, is it worth your credit card?

Louis Vuitton Debuts Absolutely Gorgeous Crocodile and Alligator Bags

Handbags

Louis Vuitton Deesse PM Blue

We’ve known for a while that exotic handbags would figure prominently in Louis Vuitton’s bid to capture more top-tier accessories customers, and now we’re getting an idea of just how prominent they’ll be. Vuitton has added five new alligator and crocodile bags to its website, including the $31,000 Louis Vuitton Deesse MM Crocodile Tote, the most expensive of the group. The prices, of course, are not surprising (especially compared to Hermes), but the fact that several of the bags are utterly perfect might be.

I don’t use superlatives like that often, but the Desse, which was originally produced in Monogram Vernis, and the Rossmore PM shoulder bag are both seriously stunning odes to luxurious minimalism. Not only do they fit perfectly into the industry’s current aesthetic trends, but they resist the ostentatious branding that has makes many people shy away from even some of LV’s most beautiful pieces. The shoulder bags get a bit of understated hardware engraving, but the totes and the NN 14 bag, first seen on the brand’s Spring 2014 runway, lack any branding that we can see from the company’s stock photos. That sort of restraint, mixed with these best-of-the-best materials, is exactly what Louis Vuitton needs in order to charm the world’s most sought-after luxury consumers.

It’s also interesting that Vuitton has chosen to display (although not sell) these bags on its website. In the past, Vuitton’s most exclusive pieces were kept off of the site’s visual inventory, their existence known only to those who watch the brand closely. Changing public perception means making these kinds of bags visible, right alongside Monogram Canvas. We know which ones we prefer, but our wallets have other ideas. Check out all the colors and shapes, along with price information, below.

The Louis Vuitton Crocodile Old Speedy Flap will cost you a pretty penny

Louis Vuitton’s Spring runway show was a joy to behold for a variety of reasons: the enormous carousel set piece bearing dozens of the world’s best models, girlish clothes in the most powdery and feminine of pastels, luxury in every detail. The entire collection felt fresh, light and joyful. Personally, though, I was distracted by one thing and one thing only, which was trying to guess how much the littany of crocodile pieces, from bags to jackets, would cost once they hit retail. Not only is crocodile astronomically expensive all on its own, but Vuitton tends to charge a premium for all of its products, above and beyond most another brands.

For the handbag star of the collection, the Louis Vuitton Crocodile Old Speedy Flap, we now have an answer, but go ahead and try to guess before you peek.

$33,000.

My personal guess was around $35,000 and I thought that even that kind of figure might be a little low, particularly when you consider that so many designers seem to be in some sort of unofficial race to see who can produce the most ridiculously expensive bag of them all. (Hermes probably has everyone already beat on that anyway.) Not that $33,000 is something that is even within the realm of reason to pay for a handbag – it’s not! But, you know, it’s closer than The Row.

Louis Vuitton surely has clients who will pony up for this bag in one of its three colors – mint, jaune (pale yellow) or nuit (navy blue with a bit of softness) – or who knows, maybe someone will get it in all three. Primarily, though, pieces like this one serve a public relations function; not only do they get people talking, but they represent the designer as a purveyor of the sort of rarified goods that only a tiny sliver of the global population can ever hope to possess.

Louis Vuitton Crocodile Neverfull

Handbags

Louis Vuitton Crocodile Neverfull

Ladies, I have to tell you, I had a great weekend. I was lucky enough to get to meet about a dozen of our wonderful Atlanta-area (and beyond!) Purse Forum members this past Sunday, and I couldn’t ask for a group of nicer, more awesome handbag-loving ladies. We all had a wonderful lunch, and then a few of us ventured over to Saks for some shopping (or, in my case, drooling – I left everything but money for lunch at home to stave off temptation), and we hit the jackpot inside the Saks Louis Vuitton boutique.

The first rare treasure that I saw was the trend-setting Louis Vuitton Stephen Sprouse leopard print cashmere-silk stole. When I saw this online when it first came out, I couldn’t help but think, “Uh, it’s…just a scarf. Kind of a big scarf, but for $725, I’m going to need miles of scarf.” Well, sometimes, things just don’t show up as glorious online as they do in person, because this thing is beautiful. It’s much wider than the average pashmina, and it lit up my outfit of black empire-waist top and skinny jeans as soon as I wrapped it around my neck. It felt lush and luxurious, like I would happily wrap it around myself every single cold day of the year.

Stuff like this? Why I left the AmEx at home.

The next thing we saw, however, not even my AmEx would have been able to accommodate.

As it turns out, the store manager is familiar with our little forum, and he was tremendously friendly and helpful while we were pawing the goods. Right before we left, he said that he had something in the back that he’d like for us to see that he doesn’t show to everyone.

What was it?

The $32,000, Louis Vuitton Crocodile Neverfull in chocolate brown. It’s exceptionally rare to see such a fine crocodile skin in person, and he said that there were only two or three of that particular bag in the whole United States. The texture of the material was so perfect that it almost looked fake (in the best possible way) – the scales were even in shape and size and had a wonderful distribution and arrangement. The color was deep, even and saturated – it was also almost the exact color of milk chocolate and even more delicious.

I asked him if I could take a picture to share, but I knew before I asked that the answer would be that it’s against company policy (can’t blame him for that!). So instead, our lovely member Veez found the above picture for us to illustrate just how gorgeous the bag really is. As with the Stephen Sprouse scarf, pictures do a poor job of capturing the clean, chic elegance of the piece – what may appear simple at first is actually much more upon further inspection.
